Bash Street Theatre

Bash Street Theatre Company produce inventive and fast-moving comic-strip shows, that fuses live music, physical theatre and circus skills.  Street shows, walkabouts and mid-scale productions are toured to indoor/outdoor venues and festivals throughout the UK, Europe and beyond.

Bash Street was first launched in front of a 3,000-strong audience in the French town of Morlaix in 1991 as part of ‘Les Arts dans la Rue’ international street festival. This first show, a compilation of sketches involving circus skills, live music and silent comedy, proved so popular that it created a style for the company that still exists today.

Over the years the company has built a reputation for inventive and fast-moving comic-strip shows.

Since 1991 Bash Street have performed to an estimated 300,000 people. They have been delighting audiences, both young and old, with their unique style of circus-theatre at major festivals throughout the UK, as well as in France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, Poland, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Japan and Hong Kong.

With silent comedy, circus skills, live music and a little bit of magic,
The Strongman is a brand new family show. A two-bit circus has arrived in town and The Strongman and his ill-treated Circus Girl companion are looking for new acts to join the show. When an itinerant traveller appears on the scene, he is put to work – but not quite in the way he had imagined!

 

Inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s 1928 film ‘The Circus’ and the 1954 film
‘La Strada’ by Federico Fellini, Bash Street Theatre’s new silent movie-style show tells a story of intrigue and jealousy, with a big helping of comedy and musical ‘joie de vivre’.
