Black Country Touring

Life's A Beach project explores memories of those seaside trips in a brand new show premiering in Tower Gardens, Skegness as part of SO Festival 2017.

Skegness, Saturday 1 July, 1pm, Tower Gardens
Skegness, Sunday 2 July, 12pm, Tower Gardens

Black Country Touring in partnership with SO Festival supported by Creative Black Country & Magna Vitae have taken inspiration from seasonal visitors & year round residents.

Life's a Beach project explores the stories captured from holidaymakers, residents & daytrippers to the seaside produced from interviews with people of the Black Country & Skegness. Each story will be presented in three specially converted caravans to capture those seaside memories perfectly.

"We've interviewed a broad range of people from very different backgrounds across the Black Country and Skegness and heard some beautiful, funny, sad and heart warming stories."

"We have used these to create three very different short performances lasting up to twenty minutes each which will transport our audiences to the wonderful and eccentric world of our British seaside towns."
Comments Co Director Frances Land.

Why are you looking forward to coming to Skegness?  Black Country Touring is delighted to be premiering Life's a Beach at SO Festival in Skegness. It is where we started the conversations & met so many of the people & characters that have contributed to the show. It's like a homecoming if you like & we can't wait to see if people recognise some of the stories.

What can the audiences expect from your work?  Expect to see three very different, fresh & new performances that tell the stories of people living & working by the seaside & those that holiday by the seaside. The rollercoaster of emotions, the fun times, sad times, & the excitement that the people living furthest away from the sea feel when they get to see a beach again! All presented in three brilliantly transformed caravan performance spaces.
