SO Festival Ambassador reviews Horncastle
Published 29th June 2017. Our SO Festival Ambassador Gemma Dodds tells us all about her experience during performances at Horncastle.
"Horncastle was a fantastic evening for SO Festival on the 28th June 2017. A venue change and wet weather couldn't stop our eager audience from having a great time.
Whilst we waited for the performance to begin, we were able to keep our audience entertained, taking pictures with our popular giant photo frames and giving out free flags, stickers and badges for the kids (although the adults seemed to quite enjoy them too!)
The performance kicked off with a masterclass circus workshop from Flame Oz for all the family. Our audience had a great time learning circus skills and some of us joined in as well, not wanting to miss out on the fun! It was fantastic to see how inspirational the children in particular found it; one little girl who was adamant about auditioning next year, explained
"I wasn't sure whether I would be able to do something like that. I've always wanted to try and learn, but I was always too nervous. At SO Festival I had a great time with my family and friends."
After that our audience was treated to an excellent performance from Southpaw Dance Company, with their fascinating performance, Speakeasy. As usual they combined excellent community involvement, using volunteer community dancers who have been busy practising throughout the weeks leading upto SO Festival, and their unique skills. The physicality of the performance was incredible and the story telling made for an experience that was enjoyed by children and adults alike.
Afterwards, we had to say goodbye to our audience but hopefully we'll see them in Skegness this weekend, on the 1st and 2nd of July, or at SO Festival 2018."
