The Whalley Range All Stars have created over 60 different events in a variety of forms, from small scale outdoor theatre and touring shows through to super 8 films and gallery exhibitions.
The main emphasis of their work is the combination of performance with visual art techniques. Their work is most commonly seen in outdoor situations and informal public spaces, ensuring the relationship between the artist and audience is less formal than it would be in a theatre or art centre.
The Pig combines a striking image on the outside which is comically enhanced by the public who experience a short unexpected piece of the theatre.
The show is designed for children but like all the company’s work it is suitable for all ages.
The Pig is a short show full of surprises that takes place in a surprisingly long pig. Pig features a 30′ long sleeping sow in a pen. You can see her snuffle, you can hear her snores. A farm-hand offers the public the opportunity to act like pigs and take a peek at a 10 minute long show that takes place inside her belly.
Whalley Range All Stars are the company behind The Pig. They were formed in 1982 by Edward Taylor and Sue Auty, both of whom had previously worked with Dogtreop of Amsterdam.
